White House Council of Economic Advisers analysis says a bipartisan
permitting-reform bill to speed energy project approvals could boost U.S. growth
by 0.28–0.56% annually—about $82–164bn in added output—if environmental reviews
are accelerated. The CEA says the measure would lower electricity bills and
raise real wages nationwide. Supporters call it a once-in-a-generation chance to
sharply shorten federal approval timelines for oil pipelines, wind farms and
other energy projects. The bill is a priority for President Trump and Congress
is expected to vote on it after next week’s midterm elections.
