Joan Feldbaum‑Vidra, head of global sovereign ratings at KBRA, said ahead of the Fed rate decision that while the US economy remains broadly strong, recent nonfarm payrolls and job‑creation data show signs of labor‑market softening, supporting a wait‑and‑see Fed stance. She said restoration of Middle East oil shipments normally puts downward pressure on medium‑term oil prices, but the risk of escalation after the US midterm elections could keep prices elevated. She added that AI sector demand and large US Treasury borrowing are keeping yields high, which to some extent is helping the Fed achieve its policy objectives.
