Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodríguez on the 28th demanded the Bank of
England return Venezuelan gold reserves it holds, calling the freeze a "farce"
and alleging an illegal seizure. She said the foreign and trade ministry and the
attorney general's office will initiate mechanisms to secure the return. On the
21st the government and some opposition delegates concluded a third round of
talks and agreed to form a joint committee to engage UK authorities to seek
unfreezing of the gold held at the Bank of England.
