A Pew Research Center survey of 3,488 U.S. adults in June found most respondents do not want AI involved in decisions about their medical care or insurance. Sixty percent said they would be uneasy if AI assisted physicians in diagnosis or treatment planning. Nearly half said AI would damage the doctor‑patient relationship, and respondents were divided on whether AI could improve patient outcomes. Tech firms including Anthropic and OpenAI are promoting wider clinical use. Eileen Yarm, director of science and society research at Pew and lead author of the report, said: "Overall, they do not want AI to make decisions alone. They want human involvement and final human review."
