Iranian deputy navy commander Rear Admiral Jalil Moghadam told Iran’s news
agency that during a 40-day conflict beginning Feb. 28, Iranian naval and
coordinated land-naval forces carried out more than 20 operations against US
warships and roughly 300 actions against US interests, including missile and
drone strikes. He said the operations show Iran’s navy retained sustained combat
capability and rejected US claims its naval power had been destroyed, adding US
and Israeli forces kept several hundred kilometres offshore, especially around
the Strait of Hormuz. Moghadam said Iran’s naval capability and equipment
improved after the 40-day period and warned Iran would conduct larger operations
if conflict recurs.
