claim that US Vice President VANCE’s letter to Supreme National Security Council
secretary Rezaei was in response to a request for equipment and medicines,
calling that allegation “a complete lie” and saying it will disclose the
letter’s details at an appropriate time. The source said the US is trying to use
the nuclear issue to weaken Iran’s nuclear capability; Iran fears handing over
enriched uranium would not end hostilities and could invite further US attacks,
and it rejects mediation that merely conveys US demands and pressure. It warned
that if the US uses bases in Middle Eastern countries to strike Iranian
interests, Iran will respond according to the nature of the attack and will not
allow Gulf states to exploit its goodwill.
