Exxon Mobil and Chevron have canceled plans to send senior executives to next
week's Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) citing
security concerns. Exxon CEO Darren Woods and Chevron head of upstream Clay Neff
had been scheduled to attend. Organizer DMG said more than 120 US firms are
exhibiting this year but its US industry speaker list no longer includes the two
companies. The cancellations come amid market fears of potential US strikes on
Iran and possible Iranian retaliation. ADIPEC is the latest energy event
disrupted by regional tensions after several executives were removed from the
agenda at the World Petroleum Congress in Riyadh.
