An internal Axios investigation says a senior Pentagon planning officer admitted
supplying classified information on Ukraine and Iran to two different media
outlets over more than a year. Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia was relieved this week by
Defense Secretary Hegeseth after failing four polygraph tests and admitting the
conduct on video, the report said. U.S. officials told investigators the
disclosures began as early as June 2025; Sylvia continued communicating with
reporters via Signal and met a journalist in an Arlington restaurant, where he
orally provided details on U.S. assistance to Ukraine drawn from notes on a
classified report.
