An SEC filing shows Amazon (AMZN.O) held 164 mln shares of Anthropic non-voting preferred stock as of Sept. 30.

The State Administration of Foreign Exchange said China’s balance-of-payments goods and services trade flows totaled 5.822 tln yuan in Sept. Exports 3.251 tln yuan; imports 2.571 tln yuan; surplus 680.5 bln yuan. Service trade: transportation 177.0 bln yuan; travel 171.2 bln yuan; other commercial services 148.6 bln yuan; telecom, computer and information services 84.0 bln yuan.

ECB Governing Council member Nagel said the ECB will act decisively if necessary to return inflation to its 2% target. Consumer price growth has accelerated again and could continue to rise in the coming weeks, with higher energy costs a key driver. Nagel said medium-term inflation expectations must remain firmly anchored at 2%, and the Governing Council will monitor price developments closely and act decisively when required. He added Thursday’s decision to hold rates was “not easy,” but so far there are no clear second-round effects; keeping that outcome depends on stable inflation expectations. He said this was a key message of yesterday’s rate decision.
