A U.S. analysis released Oct. 31 says that, as of end‑August, attacks claimed by Iran or Iran‑backed militias damaged or destroyed 26 U.S. bases and facilities in the Middle East that housed U.S. equipment. From April 1 to June 30 alone, the report says strikes damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and base infrastructure. Analysts found attackers initially targeted aircraft hangars and early‑warning systems for missile and drone detection, then expanded targets, producing equipment losses worth billions of dollars. The report says sustained attacks have changed U.S. force posture in the region; two U.S. officials told analysts many military assets have been withdrawn from the Persian Gulf and the losses have raised questions about U.S. regional defense capability.
