Securities and fund firms have been notified that the People's Bank of China (PBOC) and the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) will meet on Nov. 2 to study promoting the use of capital-market support tools. On the same day the PBOC, the National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA) and the CSRC will convene major banks to discuss optimizing the stock-repurchase re-lending facility. The stock-repurchase re-lending facility, established by a joint PBOC–NFRA–CSRC notice on Oct. 18, 2024, is one of two monetary-policy tools aimed at supporting the capital market; it incentivizes financial institutions to lend to eligible listed companies and major shareholders to fund buybacks and share increases.
