Global AI-related stocks were sold off and overseas investors net-sold $31.78
bln of Taiwan equities in October, a record above March's prior high. The Taiwan
weighted index has neared technical correction territory. The large foreign exit
underscores strains in the AI trade as investors face rising borrowing costs,
surging AI-related spending and disappointing corporate profits. After the
Nasdaq-100 plunged 3.5% on Friday—its biggest one-day drop since June—and the
Philadelphia Semiconductor Index slid 7.2%, Taiwan's semiconductor-heavy market
faces further downside risk.
