At the bank's Q3 2026 results briefing on Nov. 2, Li Li, head of asset-liability
management at China Merchants Bank, said a single-quarter stabilization in net
interest margin (NIM) is a positive signal but not proof of full stabilization
and that the subsequent path remains uncertain. She expects the overall NIM
decline to be smaller than in the same periods of prior years. On the liability
side the bank will push deposit growth while consolidating its low-cost funding
advantage; on the asset side it will pursue market and industry-transition
opportunities to increase loans in both volume and quality, aiming to keep NIM
relatively stable and preserve its lead over peers.
