China General Nuclear (CGN) said Unit 2 of its Zhejiang San'ao nuclear project
completed first nuclear fuel loading on Nov. 2 and has entered the commissioning
phase. The San'ao site is planned for six Hualong One units built in three
phases; four units have been approved and construction is progressing on
schedule. When all six units are operational annual generation is projected to
exceed 54 billion kWh — about 80% of Wenzhou's current annual electricity demand
— with annual coal-equivalent savings of more than 16.35 million tonnes and CO2
emissions reductions of roughly 50 million tonnes.
