Researchers at the University of Adelaide propose a new SQUID design that could
improve performance of quantum sensing systems, the paper says in Physical
Review Applied. SQUIDs, made from Josephson junctions and superconducting loops,
are core to many quantum sensors. The team cites potential applications in brain
monitoring, RF reception and electromagnetic sensing, and says the design may
simplify manufacturing and lower costs, but further testing is required before
commercialization.
