On Nov. 3, 2026 China's ambassador to the US, Xie Feng, said mutual respect is
needed to solidify trust in China-US economic and trade cooperation. He noted
eight rounds of bilateral trade consultations since last year; the September
round produced 10 outcomes, including establishment and advancement of a trade
council mechanism, roughly $30 billion of reciprocal tariff reductions, and a
deferral of implementing outcomes from Kuala Lumpur trade talks. Xie said the
measures were negotiated on the basis of mutual respect and equal consultation,
aim to address market and industry concerns, and should provide a more stable,
predictable operating environment for companies. He added that mutual respect is
necessary to build understanding and trust, expand the cooperation agenda and
compress the list of outstanding issues.
