SunExpress, the Lufthansa–Turkish Airlines joint venture, will cut winter seat
capacity by about 10%, trimming seats from 5.0m to 4.5m, and shift some
additional fuel costs onto passengers after jet fuel rose amid the Middle East
conflict. CEO Marcus Schnabel said the cut will be achieved through fewer daily
flights and cancellation of some domestic Turkish services. He added that,
despite hedging, SunExpress's fuel bill rose roughly €200m ($225m) this year and
is expected to rise further next year.
