The European Commission on Nov. 4 published its 2027 work programme, proposing
measures to boost member-state competitiveness by deepening the single market,
lowering energy costs and cutting administrative burdens. It plans coordinated
action in 2027 to address high energy prices, further eliminate single-market
barriers and establish a European Critical Raw Materials Company. The commission
will table proposals to improve the savings and investment alliance and publish
an AI deployment blueprint for healthcare, transport, agri-food, manufacturing,
defence and aerospace. It also plans to step up defence investment and advance
EU-Ukraine defence industrial cooperation to strengthen European defence
capabilities.
