Oct 30 — Chinese smartphone maker vivo and automaker BYD signed a strategic cooperation agreement to deepen ecosystem collaboration between smart devices and new-energy vehicles, moving from phone-vehicle connectivity toward fuller phone-vehicle integration. They expect to continue upgrading phone-vehicle interaction and data-transfer experiences from year-end through 2027, and to explore AI cross-terminal integration, expand A2A application scenarios and roll them out gradually.

An independent investigation reported by the Financial Times found German precious-metals refiner Heraeus systematically underreported metal content in client materials for more than a decade. The law firm leading the probe called the practice “highly legally questionable,” alleging Heraeus downgraded assay results for about 450 clients worldwide, reducing the cash or refined metal returned after processing. Heraeus has booked EUR170m in provisions to cover potential consequences.
