Copper rose in the Asian session as markets digested US midterm results. Ole Hansen, head of commodities strategy at Saxo Bank, said investors are balancing copper's supportive long-term fundamentals against election-driven cross-currents. He warned political and regulatory scrutiny of AI and data-center investment could intensify and weigh on future demand. Hansen said the long-term outlook remains constructive but the vote may trigger an extended consolidation as traders reassess tariff risk, inventory flows and US demand prospects.

India has amended its short-term military recruitment scheme, extending recruits' service terms and creating a route to become regular service members, in a partial rollback of the Agnipath programme. The Modi-led federal cabinet approved removing the most controversial element of Agnipath, under which recruits served four-year contracts with only 25% eligible for retention. The change comes as sustained India–Pakistan border tensions put pressure on defence readiness; Agnipath was introduced in June 2022 to rejuvenate the forces and cut payroll and pension liabilities.
