He said about a year ago Japanese leaders made erroneous Taiwan-related remarks that openly signalled intent to use force to intervene in Taiwan affairs, challenging China’s sovereignty and undermining the political basis of bilateral ties. Guo said Japan has shown no sincere reflection or corrective action, and reiterated China’s unchanged position: Japan should promptly correct its Taiwan-related words and deeds, adopt a correct attitude on historical issues and form an objective, rational view of China.
