NEA deputy director Ge Ju said authorities will tap load flexibility from
electric vehicles and air conditioners, roll out smart orderly charging and
scale vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications to expand virtual power plant (VPP)
deployment, targeting at least 50 GW of VPP regulation capacity by 2030 and
greater end-user participation in system balancing. On the storage side, the
plan calls for building pumped hydro storage to about 160 GW of installed
capacity by 2030 and accelerating new-type storage across multiple technology
routes to roughly 300 GW of installed capacity by 2030.
