UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on the 5th that under UN Security Council resolutions it will start drawing down troop levels and withdraw from Lebanon after its mandate ends on Dec. 31, 2026. Until the mandate ends, UNIFIL will continue routine operations in southern Lebanon, including monitoring and reporting on developments, liaising with parties to the conflict, supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces and assisting humanitarian tasks.
