Prosecutors have asked a Danish court to impose a DKK6.6bn (~$988m) fine in a
money‑laundering case stemming from failures more than a decade ago; the bank
denies the allegations. The court is expected to rule on Monday. Prosecutors say
the alleged breaches relate to DKK26bn (~$3.9bn) of transactions between
2012‑2015, mainly routed through the bank’s Copenhagen branch. Denmark’s Special
Crime Unit describes the action as the most comprehensive AML prosecution
against a bank in Denmark; charges allege weak internal controls, ignored risk
alerts, failures to report suspicious flows and inadequate review of 25 clients
flagged for shell addresses and opaque ownership.
