Iran said it could block the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in response to any ground attack on its territory or islands. The strait, linking the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden between Yemen and the Horn of Africa, is a key shipping route. Iran-aligned Houthi forces have launched more than 100 attacks on vessels in the region since 2023, disrupting maritime traffic and raising risks to global supply chains.
