Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged deeper ties with Italy in talks with
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, amid worsening tensions between US President
Donald Trump and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Wang urged stronger coordination
and high-level exchanges. Tajani sought to relaunch strategic economic and
political dialogue, requested China’s support to end Middle East and Ukraine
conflicts, and announced a Venice–Beijing air route starting July. Italy has
angered Trump by denying use of a Sicily base for Iran operations.
