The US is considering releasing $6 billion in frozen Iranian assets as part of an initial phase of a potential deal to end the conflict, contingent on conditions, a person familiar with the matter said. The first phase would span two to three years, with a possible total release of up to $20 billion subject to further terms. The $6 billion, from Iranian oil sales to South Korea, is currently held in Qatar.
