Trump administration plans to extend a 1920 Jones Act shipping waiver allowing
foreign-flag tankers to move oil, gasoline, and other energy products between US
ports to ease supply disruptions and price pressure linked to the war in Iran
and Strait of Hormuz constraints. The current waiver expires May 17. It has
enabled roughly 9 million barrels of crude deliveries via tankers since March.
Scope and duration remain unclear.
