Trump is dispatching special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan
to join talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to two
administration officials. Vice President JD Vance is not expected to attend, as
Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, viewed by White House
officials as Iran’s delegation head and Vance’s counterpart, will also not
participate. Vance would travel to Islamabad if negotiations advance, while his
staff will be present for the discussions.
