Iran has been elected to the bureau of the 2026 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
(NPT) review conference despite opposition from the United States, Western
countries, and some Gulf states, according to the report. The decision is
described by analysts as a sign of Iran’s continued presence in global nuclear
governance mechanisms. The report says the move reflects support from a
significant part of the international community for keeping Iran within formal
nuclear dialogue frameworks, despite objections from Washington.
