Amazon.com Inc. reported first-quarter revenue of $181.5 billion, above the
$177.2 billion analyst estimate, with overall growth of 17%. Amazon Web Services
generated $37.6 billion in sales, up 28% year over year, marking its fastest
quarterly expansion since Q2 2022, driven by rising AI demand and new data
center capacity. Capital expenditures rose to $44.2 billion, exceeding
expectations, as the company expands infrastructure for AI workloads. Amazon
also deepened partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic, which committed to
spending over $100 billion on AWS services, reinforcing cloud demand visibility.
Shares were little changed in extended trading.
