Thailand’s Board of Investment approved six projects worth a combined 958
billion baht ($29 billion), including an 842 billion baht ($25 billion) data
infrastructure expansion by TikTok’s local unit. The project will add servers
and expand data storage and processing facilities across Bangkok, Samut Prakan
and Chachoengsao to support rising digital services demand. TikTok, owned by
ByteDance Ltd.
, previously announced plans to invest $8.8 billion in Thai data centers over
five years. The BOI said TikTok also committed to digital literacy and
e-commerce training programs. Thailand last week reported first-quarter
investment applications exceeded 1 trillion baht, driven by AI, digital and
