President Donald Trump said he will give the European Union until July 4 to ratify its trade agreement with the US, extending an earlier deadline after warning of potential tariff increases on EU goods, including autos. The decision followed talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Trump said: “I agreed to give her until our Country’s 250th Birthday or, unfortunately, their Tariffs would immediately jump to much higher levels.” Markets showed a muted reaction, with automaker shares largely steady after the announcement.
