Google is in talks with SpaceX on a rocket launch deal tied to the companies’
orbital data-center ambitions, according to people familiar with the matter.
Google is also discussing potential agreements with other launch providers. The
talks come as SpaceX promotes orbital computing to investors ahead of its
planned IPO. Google said last year it plans to launch prototype satellites by
2027 under Project Suncatcher with Planet Labs. Elon Musk has described orbital
data centers as “the next frontier” for SpaceX. SpaceX recently announced
computing and infrastructure agreements with Anthropic and Cursor.
