Apple’s partnership with OpenAI has deteriorated, with the AI startup preparing
potential legal action over what it sees as Apple’s failure to fully support
ChatGPT integration across iPhone, iPad and Mac products. OpenAI lawyers are
working with an outside law firm on options including a possible
breach-of-contract notice. OpenAI expected stronger user conversion to paid
subscriptions and deeper Siri integration, but executives said Apple’s
implementation remained limited and poorly promoted. Apple has also raised
privacy concerns about OpenAI while expanding talks with rivals including
Anthropic and Google for broader AI integrations in iOS 27.
