China and the US should expand cooperation under the new environment and foster
a constructive tone in bilateral ties, according to a CCTV commentary. The
article said competition between the two countries should not become a zero-sum
contest, bloc confrontation or decoupling game, but rather a mutually
reinforcing race that serves shared interests and global peace and development.
The commentary said differences between the two countries are unavoidable given
their distinct civilizations, systems and development paths, but urged both
sides to address disputes through equality, mutual respect and reciprocity. It
also called for stronger US-China cooperation to help maintain international
order and global stability.
