Japan said the first Persian Gulf oil shipment to transit the Strait of Hormuz
since the Iran war began could arrive as soon as Monday. The Idemitsu Maru,
carrying 2 million barrels of Saudi crude, passed through the chokepoint in late
April and is headed to Idemitsu Kosan’s Aichi refinery, according to Japan’s
trade ministry. A second Japan-linked tanker, the Eneos Endeavor, also crossed
the strait earlier in May.
