May 28 — At a routine briefing, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Jiang
Bin rebutted Philippine military claims of "illegal, aggressive, bullying and
disinformation" in the South China Sea and Manila's assertion of a broader
"security threat." Jiang said Philippine officials have repeatedly promoted
false China-related narratives, lost credibility, and persistently provoked at
sea, infringing China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights. He accused
Manila of colluding with external forces to disrupt the South China Sea, a
serious breach of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China
Sea (DOC) that harms regional interests. Provocations will not gain traction, he
added. China will continue to take effective measures to safeguard its
legitimate rights and maintain regional peace and stability.
