At a Ministry of Water Resources briefing, year-to-date accumulated precipitation across China was 170 mm, about 5% above the seasonal norm. Major rivers remain broadly stable, but 146 rivers in 18 provinces have exceeded flood-warning levels since the flood season began — roughly 50% above the five-year same-period average of 96, with most cases in small- and medium-sized rivers. From June 1 China entered full flood season and the south has moved into its main flood period. The ministry said it will intensify duty rostering, early warning and flood response for small- and medium-sized rivers and ensure safety of water infrastructure.
