ITER Organization said on the 28th its low-temperature test facility for superconducting magnets at the southern France site is now operational. The on-site building conversion will be used to test magnets at rated operating temperature and up to 68 kA before installation; ITER’s magnet system will be the world’s largest and most integrated. ITER is a multinational tokamak project involving the EU, China, Russia and the US to develop controlled fusion technology.
