China's Ministry of Finance has issued renminbi sovereign bonds in Hong Kong for 18 consecutive years, with cumulative issuance exceeding 460 billion yuan. Hong Kong is attracting more offshore issuers and expanding the offshore renminbi bond market: Guangdong and Hainan have issued green and blue bonds in Hong Kong, and the Indonesian government and Kazakhstan Development Bank have issued renminbi bonds there, boosting market depth, breadth and international participation. Hong Kong has ranked first in Asia for green bond issuance for eight consecutive years, accounting for roughly 40% of the region's green bond volume.
