CPCA secretary-general Cui Dongshu said global auto sales in 2025 were 96.89 mln
units, up 6% YoY. World sales in April 2026 were 7.99 mln, up 4% YoY; Jan–Apr
2026 totaled 30.96 mln, up 1% YoY. Early-year growth was weak as the US and
China posted relative declines. China’s share of global auto sales fell to 30.9%
in Jan–Apr 2026 from 35.4% in 2025, a decline Cui attributes largely to Spring
Festival timing. He said policy stimulus effects are re-emerging and China’s
auto market is expected to gradually strengthen from H2.
