May 29, 2026 — Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) envoy Liu Yuxi met
Madagascar Foreign Minister Ndiaye to discuss bilateral cooperation. Liu pledged
Chinese support for Madagascar’s independent development path and promised
closer alignment of development strategies and implementation of FOCAC Beijing
summit outcomes. Madagascar’s transitional government said it values ties with
China, reaffirmed the One China principle, and seeks deeper political engagement
and practical cooperation under the FOCAC framework, including use of China’s
zero-tariff policy to support reconstruction and livelihoods. Liu attended a
briefing on the zero-tariff policy during the visit.
