China's Sci-Tech Innovation Board 50 Index (STAR 50) decline widened to 1%, trading at 1,732.44 points.

At about 10:32 local time on June 1, a gas room linking two production bays at SK Hynix’s fourth campus in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, caught fire. Automatic sprinklers activated and the blaze was brought under control, but a fluorine gas leak injured seven people who were sent to hospital. SK Hynix evacuated about 3,600 staff. Residual gas was cleared by about 13:38 local time, all buildings were reopened and the company declared the incident closed. SK Hynix said plant production equipment was not affected and production would not be interrupted; the company is investigating the cause.

The IAEA said on May 31 its staff found external damage to a motor room at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. Director General Rafael Grossi said attacks on nuclear facilities are unacceptable and must stop. Inspectors reported a damaged metal maintenance hatch above the motor room, debris and charred optical-fiber fragments on the ground; the damage pattern was consistent with a drone strike. No abnormal radiation levels were detected on site. Inspectors heard drone activity and gunfire nearby during the visit.
