Beijing confirmed reports that UK foreign secretary Cooper is in China for the
11th China‑UK strategic dialogue, foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at
a routine briefing. Lin called the dialogue an important high‑level mechanism
and said that amid a volatile international environment, strategic communication
between China and the UK — both UN Security Council permanent members — has
heightened practical significance. He said talks will focus on implementing
leaders’ consensus, expanding practical cooperation and discussing international
and regional hotspots to deepen a long‑term, stable comprehensive strategic
partnership. Beijing said details of the visit will be released in due course.
