WTI and Brent crude futures each gained more than $5 intraday after reports that Iran's negotiating team halted information exchanges with the US.

HSI opened down 2.34 points (-0.01%) at 25,180.05. Hang Seng Tech Index opened up 10.71 points (+0.22%) at 4,894.94. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) opened down 5.93 points (-0.07%) at 8,419.89. Hang Seng Red Chip Index opened down 24.70 points (-0.56%) at 4,359.06.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Foreign Minister Wang Yi made an official visit to Canada from May 28-30 — the first Chinese foreign minister visit to Canada in 10 years. China is willing to work with Canada to implement leaders' consensus, further explore pathways for a new China‑Canada strategic partnership, and prepare for Prime Minister Kani’s visit to China for the APEC leaders’ informal meeting, seeking to place bilateral ties on a healthy, stable and sustainable footing.
