YONHAP reported June 1 that Korea Import Car Association data show Chinese-made
cars ranked third in April new imported-car registrations in South Korea,
surpassing Japanese-made cars for the first time. April import registrations:
European-made 16,800 vehicles; U.S.-made 13,600; Chinese-made 2,023;
Japanese-made 1,974. South Korean outlets described the result as a signal of
shifting import-market dynamics; Korea Economic said Chinese brands are rapidly
increasing their presence.
