Data from the Financial Supervisory Service and Korea Securities Depository show South Korean companies issued KRW 741.4 trillion of short-term debt and commercial paper in the 12 months through April, up 47.1% YoY (≈$488.4bn). Domestic corporate bond issuance fell 34.1% YoY over the same period.

Hungary’s Prime Minister Peter Magyar said he expects to reach a technical-level agreement with Kyiv this week on a minority-rights issue that has blocked formal EU accession talks. The dispute traces to a 2024 11-point demand from Hungary’s previous government on rights of the Hungarian minority in western Ukraine and Hungarian-language education; Magyar, who took office after April’s election, has set similar conditions.
