Russian strikes late on June 1 into the early hours of June 2 killed 18 people
in Ukraine — 6 in Kyiv and 12 in Dnipro — and caused power cuts in parts of
Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv and Cherkasy, the
Ukrainian Energy Ministry said by midday June 2. Kyiv was hardest hit, with
dozens of residential buildings and civilian facilities damaged and a local
energy firm's production site affected; crews are working to restore supply.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service has deployed more than 500 personnel.
President Zelenskiy said the attacks underscore Ukraine's urgent need for US
Patriot missile systems.
