An internal State Department memo says the U.S. will sharply curtail visa operations in Africa in coming weeks, cutting the number of American embassies and consulates that process visas from nearly 50 to 20 designated hubs. Three unnamed U.S. officials said on June 1 that Secretary of State Rubio approved the plan last week and the changes are expected to begin in June. One official said consular leadership was notified on a conference call last week that routine consular services outside the 20 hubs will be scaled back.

Samsung Electronics plans to produce HBM5 using chips fabricated on its internally developed 2nm process, targeting mass production around 2028. HPB will be the primary in-package thermal-management technology; HPB is a metal thermal-conduction structure, typically copper-based, integrated into the package and offering roughly 500–1,000x higher thermal conductivity than polymer materials such as substrate, DAF or EMC.
